Teacher Feature: Yvonne Knowles, Benignus Elementary
Within seconds of being in Yvonne Knowles’ First Grade classroom, you’ll realize this beloved educator is 100 percent invested in her student’s educational experience and their whole-student wellness.
Knowles has been a teacher for 11 years and has witnessed many student victories and achievements in her career, but her favorite is when her students experience that “lightbulb moment.”
“My favorite moment is when you see students light up. When they know they have learned something and that their thought process has come together,” said Knowles. “I love to see students build on what they know, and the smile that often accompanies that is so rewarding.”
When asked if she always wanted to be a teacher, Knowles said she knew she had always wanted to make a difference in a student’s life and felt education was her pathway to achieve that.
“I always knew that I liked to work with younger children and wanted to be able to equip them with a solid educational foundation,” said Knowles. “It’s rewarding to see my former students in the hallways, and they shout out my name because they enjoyed having me five years ago. That always warms my heart.”
Yvonne Knowles is an inspiring educator who always shows up for her students and celebrates their learning. Our district is blessed to have her as a member of our cherished #kleinfamily community.
