Passionate Principals: Building Community with Kleb Principal Ellen Hodge
At Kleb Intermediate, taking care of students and creating an environment where students flourish in all aspects is a priority. The dedication and passion the educators and staff at Kleb have is a huge part of their success, but there’s one group of people that we can’t forget!
According to Kleb Intermediate Principal Ellen Hodge, now in her third year in this role, many student successes happen because of the involvement of students’ families.
“Growing our students academically and in our campus core values requires a strong partnership between our campus and our Bearcub families,” said Ellen. “We want our families to feel connected to our campus. That connection gives our families insight into how we are helping to grow their children and how they can help support that growth at home. In addition, our village mentality has created a strong support system for our students.”
With the help of the Klein ISD Family Engagement team, campus administrators were able to create family outreach opportunities that paid huge dividends for the whole campus.
“Before school started, we kicked off our time on campus by visiting our students in their neighborhoods and bringing them popsicles to create some family connections,” said Ellen. “We also held a community cookout, and our staff and student volunteers fed over 400 Klein Family members. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with our families and serve the Klein community.”
All this shows that principals like Ellen Hodge prioritize student achievement and success while working on getting families involved and excited about their children’s future through genuine efforts at building meaningful relationships.
Happy National Principals Month, Ellen! We are so grateful for your servant leadership, heart for kids, and all you do to make the Kleb community an incredible place to live and learn!
