Klein Cain and Oak Marching Bands Compete at State Competition
Dozens of award-winning Texas high school marching bands descended on the San Antonio Alamodome Monday to compete in the 2021 UIL 6A State Marching Championship. Among those in attendance were bands from Klein Cain and Klein Oak.
The Cain and Oak bands are the first bands from Klein ISD to make the cut to compete at the UIL State Championship in 15 years, and it has been 25 years since two Klein Schools have advanced in the same year. Both bands made school history by qualifying to compete at the state championship this year.
The bands had 15 minutes to present their show to the judges and attendees. Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown who was in attendance for the competition remarked on how amazing the performances were.
“These shows were absolutely phenomenal!” said Dr. McGown. “Seeing the smiles on the students’ faces as they were coming off the field was so special. These kids have spent countless hours in rehearsals to be in this arena with the best of the best. We are all so proud of what they accomplished together.”
Attendees included Klein ISD Marching Band enthusiasts and Klein Family members like Director of Fine Arts Creston Herron.
“I was blown away by the talent of both the Klein Oak and Klein Cain bands,” said Mr. Herron. “Our District has a long tradition of excellence in fine arts, and these student musicians are the product of the hard work of their fine arts educators and the exceptional support of their families. I also loved seeing members of our Klein Family come together to support these students.”
We are incredibly proud of our talented students, dedicated staff, and supportive families who make all our fine arts programs so remarkable!
