Klein ISD Celebrates Veterans and Active-Duty Military Personnel at Annual Ceremony

Veterans and active-duty military personnel joined together this morning for the 21st Annual Klein ISD Veterans Day Ceremony.

Men and women from the Klein community have served in every war and conflict since the area was settled. It is our privilege to personally celebrate and express our great gratitude for their service and sacrifice.

“Today, we honor every man and woman who’s ever worn the uniform of our nation’s military—those who’ve courageously protected our freedom and fought for justice throughout our history,” said Dr. Jenny McGown, Klein ISD Superintendent. “It is our privilege to come together to express our deepest gratitude for the sacrifices and contributions made for our country.”

Cadet Captain Tiffany Nguyen of Klein Forest High School was excited and honored to be the narrator for this year’s ceremony.

“I’m really excited to be part of this ceremony where we are able to honor veterans for what they sacrificed for our country,” said Nguyen. “I know my part isn’t huge in this, but I am honored to be able to serve as narrator.”

Between the award-winning Kleb Intermediate Choir performing “God Bless America” and the outstanding Klein Forest Golden Eagle Band playing an armed forces medley, Klein Memorial Stadium was filled with smiling faces as our veterans realized the pride our Klein family has for them.

U.S. Army Veteran Joe Moore was personally touched by the student involvement and passion present in this year’s ceremony.

“I’m very thankful that we still have people and students who are willing to support our military and nation,” said Moore. “I have a grandson in the JROTC at Klein Oak, and I appreciate the fact he is following in my footsteps. It means the world to me to see him and his classmates coming together to celebrate this day of remembrance.”

Also special this year was each JROTC unit from the five Klein ISD High Schools participating in the traditional Pass in Review.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to the many folks who helped make Veterans Day a special and memorable day. We would not have been able to honor those who deserve the most recognition without each and every single one of you.
