Teacher Feature: Farah Khan, Eiland Elementary
Eiland Elementary fourth-grade teacher Farah Khan is a committed educator and incredible team player who can now add being a loving mother to her list of titles!
One week after we visited Farah’s classroom, she gave birth to her first child.
“I truly love what I do,” said Farah. “When things seem overwhelming, I remind myself that my students need me and rely on me. Same with my pregnancy—I knew my time with my students was limited, which is why I taught up until the day before I had my beautiful baby boy. I want a teacher who will invest in my son’s future, just like I’m investing in the future of my students.”
Oftentimes, we hear about spectacular educators who go the extra mile for their students. These special teachers are always passionate with a huge heart for kids, like Farah.
“My love for teaching started when I was a student,” said Farah. “I saw the impact my teachers had on me and other students. While they all taught me school-related content, some truly went above and beyond. Some helped nurture my passion, some unearthed my hidden talents, others helped me surpass my potential, and some just listened and became mentors. It was during these experiences of not only being a student but also a mentee that I knew I would like to touch the lives of others and make a positive impact on them.”
Farah largely attributes her success as an educator to those around her – especially her Eiland family.
“From the first day I started at Eiland, I was assigned a great mentor teacher and got to join an amazing pod of teachers who I once called coworkers, but I now call family,” said Farah. “Everyone at Eiland is part of this big school family. I have built strong relations that will last not just semesters but a lifetime.”
As for Farah’s teaching goals, she cannot wait to get back into the classroom to show her students that they can reach levels they never thought they could achieve before.
“For me, being a teacher isn’t just teaching them subjects, but also teaching them that the sky’s the limit!” said Farah.
For the time being, Farah’s soaking in all the baby snuggles and newborn cuddles she can, and our Klein Family is sending her all of our love and appreciation! Teachers like Farah are part of why classrooms in Klein ISD are places of growth, learning, and love.
