20th Annual KEF Golf Tournament Sets Fundraising Record

The 20th Annual A.K. “Buddy” Brown Klein ISD Education Foundation Golf Classic and silent auction was held on November 16, where $147,159 was raised for classroom grants.

This record-breaking amount will be awarded in the form of classroom grants to Klein ISD educators to benefit student learning experiences.

Over 150 golf enthusiasts,100 community partners and sponsors, and countless volunteers made this event a success at the beautiful Gleannloch Pines Golf Club.

“Our golf tournament is the financial backbone for what the Foundation does to support teachers and students in the district,” said Bill Lakin, Klein ISD Education Foundation President. “It’s very rewarding to see the community come out to support us as they have since the tournament’s inception in 2002.”

Golf tournament proceeds are put directly back into classrooms to fund engaging educational experiences for our Klein ISD students and teachers.

“We are grateful for the continued support from so many people in our Klein community, ranging from business partners to volunteers to retired educators,” said Dr. Jenny McGown, Klein ISD Superintendent. “It’s a joy to see the proceeds from this golf tournament directly support our outstanding educators in bringing their innovative ideas to life.”

Buddy Brown, chairman and namesake of the golf tournament, has watched the event grow since its inaugural tournament in 2002. He believes that the loyalty of every community partner and sponsor is necessary for success.

“This is an excellent opportunity for us to enrich classroom resources for our teachers,” Brown said. “That’s what this tournament is all about, and I appreciate the community, the people, and the businesses here who support us.”

The Klein ISD Education Foundation golf tournament’s online silent auction raised over $23,000.

“Thank you to the Klein ISD Education Foundation directors, event sponsors, and the Klein community for working together to put on a terrific event to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the A.K. ‘Buddy’ Brown Golf Classic,” said Christy Spisak, Klein ISD Education Foundation Director.”

We are so grateful to the Klein ISD community, all of our sponsors, players, and volunteers for making the 2021 A.K. “Buddy” Brown Klein ISD Education Foundation Golf Classic a huge success.
