Two Klein ISD Students Named Coca-Cola Scholar Semifinalists
Juslyn Dhingra, a senior from Klein High, and Katrina Machetta, a senior from Klein Collins, have both been named Semifinalists for the class of 2022 Coca-Cola Scholars Program, according to a press release from the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation.
Only 1,617 high school seniors nationwide were selected as Semifinalists from a pool of nearly 70,000 students who submitted applications from across the country based on their academic excellence, leadership, and service demonstrated in school and community activities.
“Though I’m beyond grateful to receive this honor, I know I could not have done this myself,” said Dhingra. “I am forever thankful to my wonderful parents for their continuous love, to my brilliant Klein educators for their unwavering guidance, and to my peers for their constant support.”
Semifinalists are now asked to complete Phase 2 applications which includes submitting essays, character reference recommendations, and transcripts. An independent selection committee will review the applications and select 250 Regional Finalists by the end of January 2022. One hundred fifty Coca-Cola Scholars will be named in March to receive a $20,000 college scholarship and participate in the Coca-Cola Scholars Leadership Development Institute facilitated by program alumni.
“I am grateful to have been chosen for this prestigious scholarship,” said Machetta. “In every activity I do within my school or the community, I strive to give back, just like this scholarship has done for so many. I am excited to continue with this process.”
