Klein ISD Bond 2022: Get an Inside Look at Prop B
By a unanimous vote, the Klein ISD Board of Trustees passed a measure to place a bond referendum comprising four propositions on the upcoming May 7, 2022, ballot.
What does Proposition B include?
Proposition B would allocate $51.5 million for technology devices for classroom instruction, including student, teacher, and staff devices. This proposition would allow for students and teachers on every campus – from elementary school to high school – to have access to technology tools used for teaching and learning as well as college and career preparedness.
Important voting dates
Early voting runs from April 25, 2022, through May 3, 2022. Election Day is being held on the Saturday, May 7, 2022, uniform election date. The last day to register to vote in the May 7, 2022, election is Thursday, April 7, 2022.
Why four propositions?
Klein ISD is complying with changes made in 2019 to the Texas Education Code. It requires school districts to divide bond elections into separate ballot propositions based on what is being financed. Voters will have the opportunity to vote on Propositions A, B, C, and D this election cycle.
Tax impact on 65+
Klein ISD taxes are frozen for homeowners 65 or older who have properly filed with the Harris County Tax Office. Approval of this bond would not result in an increase above the frozen amount.
