Klein ISD Bond 2022: Get an Inside Look at Prop C
By a unanimous vote, the Klein ISD Board of Trustees passed a measure to place a bond referendum comprising four propositions on the upcoming May 7, 2022 ballot.
What does Proposition C include?
Proposition C would allocate $131.3 million for a new District Events Center with indoor seating for more than 8,000 that would be used for academic events, fine arts performances, athletic competitions, robotics tournaments, career and technology exhibitions, and indoor graduations. The events center would also provide a place to host large indoor events, concerts, and festivals. The Events Center would be located on existing Klein ISD-owned property at 7500 FM 2920.
Important voting dates
Early voting runs from April 25, 2022, through May 3, 2022. Election Day is being held on the uniform election date of Saturday, May 7, 2022. The last day to register to vote in the May 7, 2022, election is Thursday, April 7, 2022.
Why four propositions?
Klein ISD is complying with changes made in 2019 to the Texas Education Code. It requires school districts to divide bond elections into separate ballot propositions based on what is being financed. Voters will have the opportunity to vote on Propositions A, B, C, and D this election cycle.
No tax impact on 65+
Klein ISD taxes are frozen for homeowners 65 or older who have properly filed with the Harris County Tax Office. Approval of this bond would not result in an increase above the frozen amount.
