Klein Oak Inducts Inaugural Class of Rho Kappa Honor Students
Klein Oak High School held a special induction ceremony for the first-ever Klein ISD chapter of the Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society. Sixty-six juniors and seniors were inducted into the only national organization recognizing students for excellence in Social Studies.
“This is a big deal for our school. Our students work so hard, and I’m happy to see them be acknowledged for it,” Klein Oak Principal Thomas Hensley said. “We are beyond excited and honored to have this Rho Kappa chapter on our campus.”
Klein Oak administrators and teachers came together to provide an opportunity where students can be rewarded for their hard work in Social Studies.
“I think it’s an amazing opportunity to be one of the first people to join something brand new to our school, especially in my last year of high school. We have the opportunity to lead in our own way,” Klein Oak Senior Skyler Wade said. “I expect to be able to join with other people who are as interested in history as I am in an environment such as Rho Kappa to continue to educate ourselves.”
Established in 2011 by the National Council for the Social Studies, Rho Kappa represents knowledge through service and is dedicated to providing an avenue for students to do meaningful work for their schools and communities.
“Today, more than ever, our students need to have an understanding and appreciation for our global society,” Social Studies Instructional Specialist Jill Cole said. “The social studies classes offered here at Oak are a great way to prepare students for dealing with any challenges and ensure they have the skills to be productive citizens.”
We are so proud of these Klein Oak Panthers for being trailblazers in our district. Their commitment to their education and leadership is truly inspirational.
