Nitsch AP Leonard Castleberry Honored with Superintendent Initiative Award

Nitsch Elementary Assistant Principal Leonard Castleberry is now a 2022 Superintendent Initiative Award recipient. Through the creation of his initiative, “The Knights of Excellence,” Mr. Castleberry has positively impacted the lives of dozens of students at his school.

“I am so thankful to Mr. Castleberry for taking the initiative to invest in our Nitsch Knights,” Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown said. “He does so much to ensure our kids get an excellent education. He invests in their character and changes their lives forever. It is such an honor to celebrate him for going above and beyond for our kids every day at Nitsch Elementary.”

From teaching his students how to tie a tie to learning about money management and manners, Mr. Castleberry encourages his Knights to be the best they can be in all they do.

“The Knights of Excellence is a program for our boys in 4th and 5th grade. Often, they do not have the male mentorship that they need in their lives to show them daily methods of reaching their goals,” Nitsch Elementary Principal Frank Ward said. “Mr. Castleberry takes time to get to know the students to make sure he’s providing them a safe space here at school to be successful with whatever they choose to do in their lives.”

Congratulations to Mr. Leonard Castleberry for receiving this prestigious Klein ISD award. This recognition is only one small accolade among all the many we know he has received from his students and families. Thank you for going above and beyond, Mr. Castleberry!
