Klein ISD students from every campus participated in the Research Expo this year and showcased their projects in front of community members and project evaluators.

Over 2,600 students, family members, and guests attended the two-day event.

“Attending the Research Expo is an uplifting and joyful experience that provides hope and builds leadership for the future of our Klein Community,” Director of Advanced Academic Services Kathleen Plott said. “The Research Expo affords every Klein ISD learner in grades K-12 an opportunity to explore a topic that fuels their passion for learning while sharing their findings through advanced and sophisticated projects and performances.”

Student researchers attending the Expo had the choice of having their final research appraised. Over 85 stakeholders and community members from across the district served as external evaluators for the students’ projects. Evaluators asked questions of the researchers and evaluated their projects and presentations.

“I always enjoy being an appraiser for the Research Expo and this year was no exception,” Klein ISD community member and Microsoft Senior Technical Specialist Cody McClanahan said. “I was able to hear about a range of research from deforestation to using 3D printers to the history of raccoons. From Kindergarteners to seniors, the students displayed a thorough understanding of research skills and seemed to have a blast sharing their topics with us. I’m excited about the future for Klein kids and can’t wait for our 1 year old to be able to join the fun!”

2022 Research Expo

Advanced Academic Program Coordinators supported Klein ISD educators while they worked on personalizing research for students.

“It was absolutely refreshing to feel the excitement and see the passion that our students have in pursuing their purpose,” Assistant Director of Advanced Academic Services Heather Cook said. “The students were both innovative and creative as they relentlessly embraced the challenges set forth in their research.”

Thank you to all students who participated in this year’s Research Expo and the teachers, staff, and families who have supported them along the way!
