VIDEO: Kendra Rodgers Brown Named April 2022 Distinguished Alumna
The Klein ISD Board of Trustees honored Ms. Kendra Rodgers Brown as the Distinguished Klein ISD Alumna for April. Board Trustee Mr. Dustin Creager is honored to nominate Ms. Rodgers Brown for this recognition.
Born and raised in Klein, Ms. Rodgers Brown is a product of Lemm Elementary, Kleb Intermediate, and a proud graduate of Klein High School.
This remarkable alumna has deep roots in the Klein Family and is grateful for her time in Klein ISD. After leaving Lemm, Ms. Rodgers Brown was excited to start her Cheer career at Kleb Intermediate. Once she entered Klein High, Ms. Rodgers Brown continued on in Cheer, and even added Choir, Student Council, and Homecoming Queen to her dossier.
“One of my favorite moments from Klein High School was being one of the first black homecoming queens,” Ms. Rodgers Brown said. “That was an honor, and simply one of the best moments I had.”
When Ms. Rodgers Brown graduated and set off for college her parents had one wish. Her mother and father were both educators and told Ms. Rodgers Brown “you can do whatever you want to do, but you better get a teaching certificate.” Ms. Rodgers Brown is grateful for this advice from her parents as she has now been a teacher for 23 years.
“It was an easy decision for me. After I finished my degree at the University of Houston I was eager to come back home- to where my roots are- and work alongside people that made a difference in my life.”
Ms. Rodgers Brown is grateful to have started her career at Klein Forest High School. She served there for 19 years and moved to Klein Cain High School where she works.
To Ms. Rodgers Brown, Klein ISD is home. She is grateful for the family and roots she has here in our beloved community. Ultimately, Ms. Rodgers Brown’s goal is to give back to the family that gave so much to her.
We love when our graduates return to Klein ISD to give back to this wonderful community we all call home!
