Klein Cain High Awarded Grant for ‘Creating Collaboration’ Project

Klein Cain High Awarded Grant for ‘Creating Collaboration’ Project

Klein Cain High received a generous grant to foster collaboration between culinary and art students by transforming bare classroom walls into a student-run art gallery. This grant was generously sponsored by Whataburger.

During a surprise visit by the Klein ISD Education Foundation Celebration Express, the school was awarded the grant by foundation directors, community members, and Klein ISD Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown. School staff were overjoyed as dozens of foundation supporters climbed out of their school bus and delivered large checks to grant recipients.

This collaborative grant involves both culinary and art students transforming bare classroom walls into a student-run gallery. Students will learn how to price their artwork — taking into consideration the cost of supplies, education, and time. Students will strengthen leadership skills through selection and promotion of art, and collaboration with culinary students. Entrepreneurship will not only encourage, but engage students to value their own talents and those of their fellow peers, while also helping them build skills relevant in a business environment.

In addition to providing real-life scenarios for students, the gallery encourages participation in the arts. This project is estimated to impact 300 students.

“We are honored to be able to award this artistic and collaborative grant to Klein Cain High School,” Klein Education Foundation Director Christy Spisak said. “Without the  support from our generous donors it would not be possible to spearhead dynamic and productive activities like this.”

This spring, the Celebration Express delivered grants totaling $52,536 to bring education to life for our learners. From a collaborative student-run art gallery to a virtual bilingual library, our Spring 2022 grant recipients are innovative, engaging, and inspirational.

Thank you so much to all our grant sponsors who made all this possible. Your giving contribution will help further the educational experience of every Klein ISD student.

The Klein ISD Education Foundation accepts grant applications twice a year to encourage, facilitate, and recognize creative projects that lead to academic achievement for our Klein ISD students.
