Maya Lee – 2022 Klein Forest High School Valedictorian

Maya Lee – 2022 Klein Forest High School Valedictorian

Klein Forest valedictorian Maya Lee is one top scholar whose academic achievements are almost as sweet as her personality.

From being the Vice President of both Mu Alpha Theta and the Klein Forest Programming team to Academic Decathlon, Orchestra, and the National Honor Society, Maya has consistently shown leadership skills & commitment in all that she does.

It wasn’t always easy for Maya to step outside her comfort zone, but she credits her educators for teaching her how to open up, and more specifically, her second-grade teacher Ms. Tonya Marrs from McDougle Elementary.

“I really enjoyed my time at Klein ISD. I have met many teachers who have helped me not only academically, but also with my personal growth,” Maya said. “I was an even softer spoken girl when I was younger, but Ms. Marrs was the person to get me to open up. She really helped me grow as a person.”

According to Ms. Marrs, Maya is a student a teacher could never forget.

“She was this quiet little thing, very serious about her work. It was very evident that she had plans,” McDougle Elementary teacher Tonya Marrs said. “For all her evident seriousness, she was also able to laugh and enjoy the learning, as well. Her smile was infectious, and her attitude was positive. I am amazed by what she has done, but not surprised at all. She will be a positive light in whatever career she chooses and for the people that are blessed to know her. I know this without a doubt because she has been a positive light in my teaching career! Love her always!”

In her spare time, Maya shared her shine with others as a math tutor who dedicated time to cultivating academic growth in her peers. She was even a Vietnamese class teacher at the Linh Son Temple where she taught and mentored kids in her church community.

Maya plans to attend the University of Texas at Austin and major in Computer Science.

Congratulations, Maya! Your Klein Family is so proud of all your hard work and cannot wait to see you flourish in the near future!
