Klein Historical Foundation Hosts “Voices of the Past” Student Exhibit

Klein Historical Foundation Hosts “Voices of the Past” Student Exhibit

Get acquainted with the “Voices of the Past” while listening to the voices of today at Wunderlich Farm’s latest exhibit.

This new exhibit, which features the original writings of our very own Klein ISD students with treasured Klein founding family artifacts as direct inspiration, is currently open to visitors and will run through the summer. The “Voices of the Past” exhibit is located at Wunderlich Farm (18218 Theiss Mail Rte Rd. Spring, TX 77379) and is open the last Saturday of each month.

“I want visitors to see artifacts that don’t usually make it out of the vault, but ultimately, I want people to walk away with the sense that our students are doing phenomenal work,” Klein Historical Foundation Director Steve Baird said. “These student pieces truly transport you back in time. When we evoke memory is when we don’t forget our past, but we connect it back to our future.”

The idea for the exhibit was inspired and pitched to Mr. Baird from Distinguished Alumna and Klein founding family descendant, Ms. Julie Stevens. Ms. Stevens visited a similar exhibit and thought it would be beneficial for the museum to do a spin with its own version—Klein Family style.

While overjoyed at the response from the students and their enthusiastic participation in the exhibit, Mr. Baird is hoping the exhibit will leave a lasting impact on those who contributed and those who visit.

“This is a way to showcase our student’s work differently than we normally do it,” Baird said. “It’s about emotion and I want people to see the work that these students can do and how we’ve tied preservation back into the ELA curriculum.”

Mr. Baird and the Klein Historical Foundation would like to thank the student contributors from Doerre Intermediate, Klein Oak, and Klein Cain and their respective teachers, Ms. Reisdorf, Ms. Munger, and Ms. Sun. Your #KleinFamily is proud of your outstanding work and contribution to the Klein Community.
