Klein ISD Students Impress at Texas Thespian Fest

Students from Klein High and Klein Collins High School attended the Texas Thespians Festival where they were recognized and rewarded for their many outstanding Theatre performances.
“It is such a privilege to see our students recognized for their incredible talent,” Klein ISD Director of Fine Arts Creston Herron said. “Our fine arts students are some of the hardest working students on the planet, and I am so glad to see them recognized for their efforts!”
The Texas Thespian Festival is an annual festival where students and their troupe directors are able to celebrate an entire weekend of theatre. The festival hosts approximately 7,000 high school “Thespians” (drama students) from around the state.
During the festival, students compete in several performance categories. Judges then score students’ performances per thespian standards. Students receiving superior rankings qualify to compete at the National Thespian Festival during the summer.
“My experience at the Texas Thespian Festival is always a big highlight of my year. It is so much fun and I learned so much from all the teachers and professionals through all the workshops,” Senior and International Thespian Society Troupe 90 President Trinity Garcia said. “I also got to be a part of the All-State Cast. I learned so much from getting to experience how to work under the same pressure that a Broadway professional works under, with only four days to put together our performance for the closing ceremony. “
In addition to the national qualifying events, there are several events that only the state of Texas recognizes. Over 7,000 students were able to compete for this honor, with many Klein ISD students counted among them.
