Parent Graduates Learn the Importance of ‘Showing up, reaching out’

Nearly 300 Klein ISD parents and family members graduated from Parent University, signifying their unwavering commitment and dedication to being involved in their children’s educational success.

Parent University, originating at Klein Intermediate nearly ten years ago as part of an award-winning Family Engagement program, has steadily grown since its inception as more families realize the positive impact of active family involvement in education.

“We celebrate your dedication as an engaged parent and your involvement in Parent University. You are leading by example, and I know that your children are so proud of you,” Klein ISD Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown said. “Thank you for investing in the promise of your children as we work together to support and celebrate their purpose.”

The event included moving words from passionate speakers, including keynote speaker and Eiland Elementary Principal David Menendez, Klein Forest student Justin Williams whose father was in the crowd of graduates, and proud Parent University graduate Adrienne Flis.

“Through the years, I have made it my mission to be an involved parent,” Parent University graduate Adrienne Flis said. “By showing up, reaching out, building bridges, and being involved, I have found endless support for many of life’s challenges within our children’s elementary years. So what’s my takeaway from Parent University? Well, it has taught me that parents matter.”
