Kreinhop and Roth Elementary Achieve Great Expectations Model School

Kreinhop and Roth Elementary Achieve Great Expectations Model School

Kreinhop Elementary and Roth Elementary recently achieved the prestigious honor of being named a Great Expectations Model School. This is the second year in a row for Roth Elementary and the first time for Kreinhop. The school’s principal, faculty, and staff worked diligently to accomplish this impressive goal.

The Great Expectations Program, founded in 1991, is a scientifically-based, research educational reform

model that emphasizes a climate of mutual respect and academic excellence. The program represents an approach to learning that empowers teachers to expect and get the best from students. This model encourages everyone involved to reach greater heights of achievement.

To be named a Great Expectations Model School, over 90 percent of the teachers must successfully implement all of the classroom practices. In addition, the school’s principal must also model the classroom practices, and the school needs to serve as a standard that other administrators and educators can learn from and visit.

“I am so proud of both schools and the work they have done and all that they have learned from earning this recognition,” said Great Expectations Coach Rick Pierce. “The students learn to think critically, have self-control, embrace challenges, and effectively work together. The teachers attended training and are now empowered to manage their classrooms and build a culture of respect and high academic achievement.”

The schools celebrated this recognition during a presentation where students sang, recited their class creeds, and gave testimonials about what Great Expectations means to them and what they have learned this year.

“I have learned what it means to be a good friend,” Fourth-grade student Lucie said. “A good friend will cheer for you and help you when you most need it and always be there for you. I show I am a good friend by celebrating my classmates every day.”

We are so proud of the educators and students at Kreinhop and Roth Elementary and their continued commitment to achieving academic success and positive school cultures through Great Expectations!
