Klein ISD Band Invited to Perform at Premier Music Festival

Klein ISD Band Invited to Perform at Premier Music Festival

In a recent announcement, both the Klein Cain Band Association and the Hofius Symphonic Band received invitations to perform on stage during the Music For All National Festival, a prestigious event presented by Yamaha.

“It gives me great joy to witness our directors and their students being recognized for their incredible work every day! Having our students perform in the Music for All Festival in Indianapolis is an outstanding accomplishment for our entire community,” Director of Fine Arts Creston Herron said. “It’s teachers and students like this that continue to demonstrate why Klein ISD is a destination district for fine arts!”

Being invited to The Music for All Festival is an achievement that is widely sought after in the school music community. From the commitment of our students and the collaboration of directors at all levels to the support of campus and district administration, successes like this are a collective effort.

“This invitation is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students and band families from year one – who have worked to develop a positive and ambitious culture that embraces the pursuit of musical excellence,” Klein Cain Head Band Director David McGrath said. “We are indebted to our intermediate school band directors at Doerre, Ulrich, Krimmel, Hofius, and Kleb. They send us tremendous kids and lay the musical groundwork upon which we can build.”

The festival will be in its 30th year in 2023 and will host over 55 middle and high school ensembles from across the country. Students will participate in musical workshops, as well as give performances at top venues.

“I’ve come so far, and so many other people have come a long way too. I’m excited to play my instrument for the directors and clinicians, and I’m very proud of the band,” Hofius eighth-grader Elise Houston said. “It feels surreal to get chosen for something this big, I’m very thankful for this opportunity, and I feel that this band will do great!”

While the Music For All Festival is non-competitive, students are still afforded the opportunity for feedback and evaluation following their performances. In addition, high school musicians participating in the festival get a bonus as they can audition for Music For All’s National Honors ensembles.

Congratulations to this group of outstanding student musicians and leaders for displaying such excellence. Your Klein family is so proud of what you have accomplished!
