A Message from Chief Marlon Runnels

As you may be aware, today, September 15, 2022, a bomb threat was made against Klein Forest High School by a student, which caused a major disruption.

Our Klein ISD Police Department and other law enforcement agencies responded immediately to investigate and ensure the safety of our students and staff. The student who made the threat is in custody, has been charged with a felony, and has been expelled in accordance with the Klein ISD Student Code of Conduct.

We are grateful for the immediate response of emergency personnel, law enforcement, and first responders working with our Klein Police Department in responding to this incident. Klein Forest students, staff, and administration are to be commended for their cooperation in response to this incident.

In Klein ISD, all threats are taken seriously, investigated completely, and addressed through the Student Code of Conduct and law enforcement. The safety of our students and staff is always a top priority.

Families, as your Chief of Police, I want to remind you of the following items:

  • Please talk to your student about the severe nature of making threats–threats are never a joke and may result in criminal charges and disciplinary action up to and including expulsion.
  • In the event of an emergency, Klein ISD will use multiple communication channels to share and update information, including direct text messages, emails, and social media updates.
  • We always encourage anyone with knowledge about concerning behavior to immediately inform campus administration, the Klein ISD Police Department 24/7 at (832) 249-4266, or use the Keep Klein Safe anonymous reporting tool 24/7 to send us information via the web at

We appreciate your partnership in keeping Klein safe.
