Klein ISD Honored as District of Distinction for Visual Arts Education

The Texas Art Education Association (TAEA), the largest state professional organization for art educators in the United States, recently announced that Klein ISD is again a District of Distinction for 2022.

For the 2022 award, more than 1,200 districts were eligible for the award. However, only 59 districts met the high standard and will receive the outstanding honor indicating they are in the state’s top 5 percent of districts.

“I am so excited that Klein ISD has been named a TAEA District of Distinction for the fourth time in a row. This award is further proof that our talented, hardworking visual arts teachers and students are the best in the state,” Klein ISD Superintendent Dr. McGown said. “I am always so proud of our commitment to arts education and so impressed by how our students and teachers continue to create absolute masterpieces for our schools and community to enjoy.”

Klein ISD received this honor for providing a well-rounded education that advocates and integrates visual arts curriculum to inspire creativity and reach various learners.

“The continued success of our visual arts programs is directly connected to the unwavering dedication and unparalleled instruction that our visual arts teachers provide to our students in Klein ISD,” Director of Fine Arts Creston Herron said. “I continue to be amazed by their ability to inspire our students to embrace creativity and find their voice through the arts.”

This is the fourth year TAEA, the leading advocate for the visual arts in the state, is honoring districts around Texas as Districts of Distinction. Klein ISD has been recognized each year.

“Our Klein ISD art teachers are amazing educators who go above and beyond for our students,” Klein ISD Assistant Director of Fine Arts Leah McWhorter said. “It is a wonderful feeling for them to receive recognition for their dedication towards their students and subject.”

TAEA looked at field experiences, community service, and community exhibitions as part of the rigorous rubric for the award.

Congratulations to the entire Klein ISD Arts Department for this tremendous honor. Your #KleinFamily is proud of all of your continued accomplishments!
