8 Klein ISD Music Programs Named Mark of Excellence Winners

Eight Klein ISD bands and orchestras have been named Mark of Excellence Project winners by The Foundation for Music Education.

This prestigious award recognizes excellence in performance for high school and intermediate school bands, choirs, and orchestras.

“Our nationally recognized Fine Arts department continues to shine with additional accolades for their exceptional work and tremendous talent,” Klein ISD Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown said. “The Mark of Excellence recognition is a further testament to the truly outstanding student-musicians and phenomenal educators we have here in our Klein Family.”

The Mark of Excellence Project is unique because it allows ensembles to compare their performance style with others across the country. This year, 376 entries were submitted to the distinctive competitive project.

“We are incredibly proud of this well-deserved recognition that the Foundation for Music Education has bestowed on our programs and teachers,” Fine Arts Director Creston Herron said. “This accomplishment reflects the outstanding teaching and commitment that our educators pour into our students. We are so fortunate to have educators that inspire our students to excel in the arts!”

Nationally known judges evaluate the ensembles that participate in this project. National winners fall within the top 25 percent of the judges’ rankings, and those who fall within the following 25 percent are named Commended winners.

Congratulations to our exceptional bands and orchestras, along with their excellent educators, for such a huge accomplishment. Your talent is truly outstanding!
