Klein Cain High School Chorale Earns National Recognition

Klein Cain High School Chorale Earns National Recognition

The Klein Cain High School Chorale recently received national recognition from The American Prize National Nonprofit Competitions in the Performing Arts.

Klein ISD Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown was overjoyed at the news of the chorale’s national recognition and expressed her excitement for the student performers.

“I am so proud of the Klein Cain Chorale for receiving this incredible recognition,” Dr. McGown said. “Their success is proof of the hard work and passion these talented students and their dedicated director have for their craft. Congratulations on this tremendous accomplishment—once again, you’ve made our Klein Family so proud!”

Klein Cain Director of Choirs, Mr. Austin Dean, is thrilled for his students-especially considering the challenges all chorale groups across the country faced.

“For this group of students to be recognized for their hard work is extremely gratifying,” Mr. Dean said. “Against all odds, these students rose to the challenge and delivered a performance we still talk about today. We are grateful to the past and present students who took part in these recordings and dedicate this success to all of them.”

The American Prize National Nonprofit Competitions in the Performing Arts is the nation’s most comprehensive series of contests in the performing arts. The American Prize is unique in scope and structure, designed to recognize and reward the best performing artists, directors, ensembles, and composers in the United States at professional, college/university, community, and high school levels, based on submitted recordings.

The Klein Cain Chorale applied for the award in May 2021 and was announced as a semi-finalist, then a finalist, before receiving the honorable mention and the American Prize national recognition in September 2022.

“Performing this music was especially rewarding,” Klein Cain senior Jordan Harrold said. “That we could pull off a performance of that level despite unique challenges makes this recognition all the more special.”

The American Prize has awarded more than $100,000 since its founding and is offered annually in areas of the performing arts. Thousands of artists from all 50 states have benefited from their participation in the contests of The American Prize, representing hundreds of communities and arts organizations across the nation.

Congratulations to the Klein Cain Chorale and Mr. Dean! Your hard work and dedication have paid off. Your Klein Family is proud of you and can’t wait to continue celebrating your success.
