Klein High and Klein Oak Cross County Teams Advance to State
Three Klein ISD high school Cross Country teams are advancing to the Cross Country State Championship after winning regionals.
Klein High Girls Cross Country and both Klein Oak Boys and Girls Cross Country teams will represent the school district at the state-level competition. These outstanding athletes will meet with teams from across Texas on Friday, November 4, to compete for the title of state champions.
“I couldn’t be prouder of these students. Talent alone does not equate to an athlete’s success, and they have worked very hard to get where they are,” Klein High Cross Country Coach Daniel Lawton said, “I am inspired by them and know they will continue to have success!”
During the state championship, all three teams will be running a distance of three miles.
“I truly believe that Cross-Country athletes are some of the toughest in the world,” Klein High Principal Brandon Baker said. “These ladies and their coaches truly set the Blue and Gold standard at Klein High School.”
Student-athletes who participate in Cross Country exemplify what it means to work hard. Running over 30 miles weekly during the school year and during the summer, these athletes are committed to sharpening their skills.
“This is the first time in school history that both teams have qualified for State in the same year! The kids have worked tirelessly and consistently through the summer and fall,” Klein Oak Girls Cross Country Coach Aaron Shock said. “We are so proud of our teams.”
For these teams, the ultimate victory is within reach. Coaches and principals know what has gone into getting them this far and cannot be more excited for them.
Congratulations to these outstanding athletes, and good luck next weekend!
