Klein ISD Celebrates Veterans and Active-Duty Military Personnel at Annual Ceremony

The Klein ISD community gathered together to honor Veterans and active-duty military personnel this morning for the 22nd Annual Klein ISD Veterans Day Ceremony.

It is with great honor that Klein ISD celebrates and expresses immense gratitude to these heroes.

“Today, we honor every man and woman who has ever worn the uniform of our nation’s military—those who’ve courageously protected our freedom and fought for America throughout our history,” Klein ISD Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown said. “We come together to express our deepest gratitude for the sacrifices and contributions you and your family have made for our beloved country.”

The event was made all the more special as several of the district’s JROTC cadets,  who took part in the Pass-in-Review, have family members who are veterans and active military members.

“It’s a really great feeling to be here and get to understand what our veterans have experienced on a deeper level,” Klein Collins JROTC Technical Sergeant Cadet Adrianna Colson said. “It’s very inspiring to see, and I think everyone should experience a life lesson like this at least once.”

Accompanying Klein Cain’s Senior Army JROTC was Instructor Major Carl Lockett, the Reviewing Officer for the Pass-in-Review, and Klein ISD’s Police Chief and Marine Veteran, Chief Marlon Runnels.

“It brings me great joy to see the next generation of young men and women who love our country,” Marine Veteran Michael James said. “It’s heartwarming to see a school district that cares so much for veterans. Thank you, Klein ISD!”

Klein Memorial Stadium was filled with faces and hearts of pride as our veterans enjoyed the service dedicated to them. From The Ulrich Intermediate Choir performing “God Bless America” to the phenomenal Klein Cain Band playing an armed forces medley, overwhelming pride could be seen across all the stands.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to our Veterans. Special thank you to the many folks who helped make Veterans Day a special and memorable day. We would not have been able to honor those who deserve the most recognition without each and every single one of you.
