Frank Elementary Introduces Future Flyer Story Time

Frank Elementary Introduces Future Flyer Story Time

Frank Elementary has a special school event called the “Future Flyer Story Time” for little learners who aren’t quite school-age yet.

This story time experience is held on the first Friday of every month to give our tiniest learners a sneak peek of what to expect when they get to Frank Elementary. The school’s library has invited the younger siblings of their students and their families to enjoy a story and participate in interactive activities.

“Our goal is to introduce children to our principals and our library and make them comfortable at Frank,” Frank Elementary School Librarian Grace Erkman said. “Libraries can bring families together in a welcoming and supportive space!”

Reading is a very important part of the learning process—children who are read to and are learning to read are continually learning. Allowing the whole family to be involved in activities at the school library is essential to boosting engagement in the community and in the success of the whole learner.

“I’m so happy that Frank is taking an interest in developing early literacy in future students,” Future Frank Flyer parent Kristin Meissmer said.

School-age children enjoy reading time daily in their classrooms. With the implementation of the monthly storytime event, students can share common ground with their younger siblings.

“We are so excited about our Future Flyer Story Time program,” Frank Principal Meredith Moss said. “We get to engage the community and get our future Flyers excited and prepared to come to school.”
