Wunderlich Awarded $7,500 KEF Grant to ‘BOOST’ School Spirit

Wunderlich Intermediate received a Klein ISD Education Foundation (KEF) grant today to fund the school spirit store and coffee cart managed by students to boost school spirit and morale.
These additions will allow students to apply skills they are learning in their core content classes and electives, reinforce school values and encourage school spirit.
During a surprise visit by the KEF Celebration Express, the school was awarded the grant by Foundation directors, community members, and our Superintendent, Dr. Jenny McGown. School staff were overjoyed as dozens of Foundation supporters climbed out of their bus and delivered extensive checks to grant recipients.
Wunderlich Intermediate School will use the Bringing Ownership & Opportunities to Students and Teachers (BOOST) grant to renew pride in the school. This grant, sponsored by PBK, will help students gain real-world application of vocational skills, strengthen reading and writing skills through the creation of scripts and advertisements, and gain knowledge of data analysis by reviewing surveys and adjusting merchandising based on those results.
“Wow! “Pride in School” is a real plus when learning, especially in terms of helping students get involved in their own learning,” KEF President Bill Lakin said. “Bringing in the opportunity for students to use the skills they’ll need to function in the world of work is timely. Analyzing and redirecting resources are skills that will help all students.”
This fall, the KEF Celebration Express delivered grants totaling $76,107 to bring education to life for our learners. From an inclusive ukulele program to a counseling comfort dog, our Fall 2022 grant recipients are innovative, engaging, and inspirational.
Thank you so much to all our grant sponsors who made all this possible. Your contribution will help further the educational experience of every Klein ISD student.
The Klein ISD Education Foundation accepts grant applications twice a year to encourage, facilitate, and recognize creative projects that lead to academic achievement for our Klein ISD students.
