Superintendent’s Spotlight: Klein ISD Culinary Arts Pathway
Life is what you BAKE it – and for these students in the Culinary Arts pathway, it’s pretty sweet!
Our Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown joined the student chefs at Klein Forest as they prepared for a catering event. They taught Dr. McGown how to make delicious desserts like layered trifles and cheesecake-stuffed strawberries. Students in the Culinary Arts pathway at Klein Forest have the opportunity to cook in an industry-grade kitchen all within the walls of their high school!
“I learned so much from these chefs-in-training and am incredibly proud of their dedication to growing their craft and pursuing their passions,” Dr. McGown said. “This program truly allows our students to leave Klein ISD well-rounded and highly trained with multiple certifications upon graduation and real-life experience catering for families and business in our Klein community.”

Students who join the Culinary Arts pathway in Klein ISD have the opportunity to earn the ServSafe Food Handler and ServSafe Manager certifications which will help them obtain a high-paying career once leaving high school. Culinary Arts is offered at all 5 high schools.
