Mueller Elementary Principal Named Distinguished Educator by SHSU

KLEIN, Texas – Mueller Elementary Principal Ms. Heidi Sebren has been recognized by the College of Education (COE) at Sam Houston State University (SHSU), in cooperation with the SHSU Alumni Association, as a 2023 Distinguished Educator of the Year.

This prestigious award is the highest honor the College of Education at SHSU can bestow upon alum educators who have made significant contributions to the field of education.

“I am so proud of Heidi for achieving this monumental award,” Superintendent Dr. McGown, a fellow Sam Houston State University Distinguished Educator of the Year, said. “Her heart, perseverance, and expertise inside and outside Mueller’s halls are evidence of her top-notch work effort and professionalism. I can’t think of a more deserving individual for this award, and our Klein Family appreciates her for all she does to help our students succeed.”

This year, the recipients of the Distinguished Educator of the Year will be honored on March 4 at 6 p.m. in the Lowman Student Center White Ballroom for their demonstrated expertise and outstanding service in the classroom, school, district, and community.

“Being named Sam Houston State Distinguished Educator of the year is such an incredible honor,” Ms. Sebren said. “What I learned at Sam Houston has greatly influenced my educational journey here in Klein ISD.”

“The Distinguished Educator of the Year ceremony offers a unique opportunity for the COE to honor several of its most accomplished alumni who have made a positive difference through careers in education,” Dean of the COE Stacey Edmonson said. “Our honorees represent urban, rural, and suburban communities and include all types of educators who have had distinguished careers as teachers, counselors, librarians, administrators, and higher education professionals.”

Congratulations to Ms. Sebren on this incredible honor! Your #KleinFamily is so proud of you!
