2 Klein ISD Student-Athletes Crowned Wrestling State Champs, 7 Students Medal in All

KLEIN, Texas – Two Klein ISD student-athletes achieved their State wrestling dreams. Klein High Junior Isaac Sheeran and Klein Oak Sophomore Rylee Ferranti have recently been crowned State Champions for their respective weight classes.

“Seeing these hard-working student-athletes excel by winning the State Wrestling Championship is such a remarkable achievement that makes all of us so incredibly proud,” Klein ISD Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown said. “Isaac and Rylee have shown tremendous dedication, perseverance, and skill in pursuing their passion, and their tenacity has paid off with excellence as the result. Congratulations to Isaac and Rylee, along with their families and coaches, on this great achievement!”

Other medals earned at State

  • 106 weight class: 5th place, Brandon Carrillo, Klein HS
  • 132 weight class: 2nd place, Timothy McGuire, Klein HS
  • 175 weight class: 1st place, Isaac Sheeren of Klein HS & 2nd place, Nico Lozano, Klein Cain HS

  • 132 weight class: 3rd place, Elena Gutierrez, Klein Cain HS
  • 145 weight class: 2nd place, Talyn Naylor, Klein Cain HS
  • 185 weight class: 1st place, Rylee Ferranti, Klein Oak HS

For Isaac Sheeran, this win has been a long-time coming. The dedicated wrestler had previously won State in the 6A 175-pound weight class and placed in the top ranks in 2022 at the 170-pound weight class.

Sheeran’s Wrestling Coach, Joaquin Bautista, was incredibly proud of Sheeran and shared his excitement about the student’s win.

“I’m extremely proud of what Isaac did this year. Watching him develop over time into a state champion has been very exciting,” Coach Bautista said. “His strong work ethic, very coachable mentality, and positive character have made him into one of the most exciting wrestlers in Texas, maybe nationally. I’m excited to see what more he can achieve in his upcoming Senior year.”

Klein Oak Sophomore Rylee Ferranti is known for her hard work and dedication to wrestling and representing her school to the best of her ability. The natural leader is an excellent example to her fellow Panthers and motivates each person she interacts with.

Ferranti’s success with Wrestling is evident. She wrestled valiantly in the 6A 185-pound class, managing a record of 42-3 wins/losses, and defeated three seniors on her way to the championship.

“Rylee has been working on meeting her potential since the first day she joined our team. She is a naturally gifted and athletic wrestler and had some success as a freshman (placing 6th in the Region). Still, this year you could see a real change in her work ethic, her desire to be great, and improvement in her technique,” Klein Oak Head Wrestling Coach Ian Jones said. “When she came up short of qualifying for State last year, we talked about what it would take to get to the next level, how much harder it would be, and how much more I would push her. Long story short, she bought in, and it paid off with a State Championship. I’m incredibly proud of her and how she leads her teammates by her example every day.”

Congratulations to both Isaac and Rylee on securing the Wrestling State Championship. Your #KleinFamily is so proud of you, your hard work, and how you always show up at your best.
