Quarter 3 Update from our Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown
Dear Klein Family and Community,
Tomorrow ends the third quarter of our academic year, and I’m so proud of the hard work and success that is being showcased in Klein ISD! Student talent in our district is unmatched, and it’s a joy to see them continuing Klein ISD’s tradition of excellence with achievements in academics, the arts, and athletics. Learn more about the stories of their success in the links below.
SAFETY AND SECURITY
The safety and well-being of every member of our Klein Family remains a top priority in our district, and we are so fortunate to be home to the Klein Police Department, the first and finest school district police force in Texas, with over 40 years serving our Klein schools and community. We are also thankful that all our schools have registered nurses who tend to our students’ health and certified counselors and licensed school psychologists on staff who work in partnership with our students’ parents to keep our schools a safe and supportive place to teach and learn.
In light of national trends regarding the dangers of illicit prescription drugs, including fentanyl, all Klein ISD parents were sent a letter this past week with information on how to keep our children safe. We will also host a parent session on March 21, 2023, from 6:00-7:00 pm, at the Klein Multipurpose Center (KMPC), where you can learn more about these dangerous substances as well as prevention strategies.
2022 BOND AT WORK
So many great things are underway in our schools thanks to the community’s support of the largest bond program in Klein ISD history! Our outstanding Board of Trustees ensured that all of the projects in the 2022 Bond marked for safety and security are already complete or have been initiated. Additionally, our most comprehensive renovations to modernize our schools and enhance safety measures are also in the works at Klein Oak, Klein Collins, Klein Cain, Klein Forest, Doerre, Hildebrandt, Kleb, Klein Intermediate, Northampton, and Wunderlich. We’re also building a Flex School that will be utilized by elementary students and staff at elementary schools that are 50+ years old when these schools are undergoing total renovations. You can learn more about these projects and see current renderings at kleinisdbond.com.
LEGISLATIVE UPDATE
The 88th Texas Legislative Session is underway, and our board-approved Klein ISD Legislative Priorities are as easy as A-B-C:
- Accountability: Measure What Matters
- Budget: Adjust for Inflation
- Care: Invest in Safety, Mental Health & Wellness, and Teacher Retention
I want to share my heartfelt thanks to you for entrusting us with your children’s education—we always honor you as our students’ first and most important teachers. The Klein ISD Board of Trustees, our very own local elected officials, share this sentiment and passed the Families First Resolution to recognize parents’ critical role in our students’ education and success. Additionally, we take great pride in the power of choice that we provide to students and parents in our district, proudly offering over 250 unique pathway courses and 50 industry-standard certification programs to prepare our students for life after graduation, whether college, career, or military.
Nothing is more patriotic than public education, and our teachers are dedicated and talented individuals who partner with us as parents to provide a strong foundation. I know that you join me in celebrating and honoring the hard work and sacrifice that our teachers and all educators make every single day to ensure our students’ success. They deserve our daily support, especially as we move through this legislative session. It’s imperative that we let our elected officials know that we support our public school teachers and staff and that their work is valued and essential to the success of the over 54,000 students who depend on us in Klein ISD.
QUARTER 4 STARTS MONDAY, MARCH 20!
We’ll be picking up with our final grading quarter of the 2022-2023 school year when we return from Spring Break on March 20. I know we have more great things ahead as we look forward to finishing the year strong. I’m grateful for your continuing partnership and support because together, as a community, we ensure the absolute best for our students, staff, and parents and make Klein, TX such a special place to call home.
Gratefully,

Dr. Jenny McGown
Klein ISD Superintendent
