Klein Collins Superstar Girls Basketball Coach Building Lasting Legacy

Klein Collins Superstar Girls Basketball Coach Building Lasting Legacy

Coach Tatiana Lee is making a difference in the lives of Klein Collins Tigers—both on and off the basketball court. The dedicated coach was recently named the District 15-6A Coach of the Year. Coach Lee is thankful for the recognition and is proud to have coached girls’ basketball for 16 years.

“Coaching was something that found me. However, I didn’t know I wanted to do it early. I had never even considered it,” Coach Lee said. “I’ve always been a part of the game, but even with my immense love for basketball, coaching kids was not something I thought I would find passion in until an opportunity fell in my lap. After graduation from college, I was allowed to coach 8th-grade girls’ basketball. Immediately after accepting and getting to ‘work,’ I knew coaching was my purpose, not a job.”

To Coach Lee, Klein ISD is “home.” It means a lot to Coach Lee that she can give back to the next generation of Klein Collins Tigers.

“Klein ISD has always been a known, stand-out district, so when the opportunity presented itself for me to apply and potentially join the district, I jumped at it,” Coach Lee said. “I live in Klein ISD, and my daughter attends school in this district. So I didn’t have to make it home; it already was home.”

As a testament to the success of this year, one can tell Coach Lee is constantly focused on her overall goals for herself and her team.

“Every year, each group’s goal is simple. To leave a legacy and winning tradition,” Coach Lee said. “The Lady Tigers take pride in their basketball program here at Klein Collins. It’s important to them to always leave it better than they found it.”

When asked for her advice towards young, aspiring future coaches Coach Lee wants to impart some simple wisdom that has motivated her through the years:

“In the words of motivational speaker Inky Johnson: ‘The process is more important than the product.’ There will be rewarding and challenging moments, but remember to enjoy the process and all the positive things it brings.”

Coach Lee would like to thank her family and Assistant Coach Justin Jones. Congratulations, Coach Lee, on your many accomplishments. We are so grateful for you and for all you do for our #KleinFamily!
