STEAM Express Launches 2023 Space-Themed Art Challenge for Students, Register Now!

The Klein ISD STEAM Express is excited to launch a Space-themed art challenge, inviting students to submit artwork featuring natural or manmade objects in space. The winning entries will grace the interior of the STEAM Express as wallpaper, reaching over 35,000 students over the next two years!
Space-related topics for your artwork could include spacecraft, satellites, telescopes, the International Space Station, celestial bodies, astronauts, or combinations of these elements. We’re eager to see your imaginative, out-of-this-world creations!
Registration:
To sign up for this Space Challenge, please fill out this form. This lets us know who participates, so we can send periodic messages to encourage you along the way.
Hint: The more original the idea, the more likely it is to be a winning entry. If twenty people submit a picture of the sun, only one has the possibility of being selected.
Selections will be chosen from all levels of students (Elementary, Intermediate, and High School). Please sign up by April 30, 2023.
Submit Project:
To submit a drawing, please fill out this Google form. You will be asked to take a picture and upload it to the form. If your project is selected as one of the winning entries, we will ask for the original project to get the highest quality for the wallpaper.
Rules:
- The drawing must be your original work.
- You may work in partnership with another person on this project. This is not required.
- All projects must be turned in by May 19, 2023, at 11:59 pm.
- It is recommended that the colors shown in your drawing be very clear. Colored pencils are allowed but can often be very light to see.
- Drawings can be done using both physical and digital sources. The final product will be printed on the wallpaper.
- Drawings should be done using the dimensions of a normal piece of paper 8 ½” X 11”.
- All questions about the project can be directed to Marc Williams, the STEAM Express Coordinator, at mwilliams5@kleinisd.net.
- All drawings should reflect the honor code of Klein ISD, including dress and actions.
Judging:
Judging will be conducted by a committee of community members, Klein Education Foundation board members, students, teachers, administrators, and district personnel in Klein ISD. The committee will select multiple winners.
We can’t wait to see your OUT OF THIS WORLD designs!
