
Monica Dujunco, 2023 Klein Collins Salutatorian

Monica Dujunco is one Klein Collins Tiger not to miss! This Salutatorian is leaving a legacy for those she has come into contact with throughout her four years of high school.
Besides her constant involvement in extracurricular activities, Monica also impresses in her academics. This senior has garnered much recognition along the way, winning a Team VorTX 3735 Sustainability Award, a FIT District Waco Event Quality Award, placing second in HOSA as a State Qualifier for Biomedical Debate, winning 4th Place in Medical Innovation, Gold Summa Cum Laude in Latin 2 NLE, Silver Maxima Cum Laude in Latin 1 NLE, and first place in the Houston Regional Certamen Competition. She also achieved a 4-time “Excellent” rating at Solo and Ensemble on behalf of the Klein Collins Varsity Orchestra, and so much more!
Monica loves dedicating her time to extracurricular activities and serving within these clubs and organizations. She is an active member of FRC, has been a Team VorTX 3735 2-time Impact Award Presenter and Finance Lead, the Science National Honor Society President, the In AWE Co-Founder and Media Lead, the Klein Collins Computer Science for Social Good Outreach Coordinator, the Klein Collins Girls Who Code Vice President, the Klein Collins HOSA Senior Administrative Vice President, and Committee Chair, the Environmental Club Treasurer, the Red Cross IHL YAC Team Lead and Outreach Coordinator, and a Violist for the Klein Collins Varsity Orchestra.
“As a senior about to leave for college, I may not be in every club to inhabit the walls of Klein Collins, but I am happy to state that I have found my niche and explored everything the district has to offer,” Monica said. “I will never be able to fully express my gratitude for the people who raised me and molded me into the person I am today, whether they be my family at home or my teachers at school. Thank you for helping me become the person my younger self wanted to be!”

As far as organizations at Klein Collins, Monica is involved in Kode with Klossy as a Scholar, Girls Who Code Summer Immersion Program, Spanish National Honor Society, National Junior Classical League, Math National Honor Society, and National Honor Society.
In her free time, Monica volunteers at the Houston Food Bank, Science National Honor Society, KC Clean-Up, Walk to Defeat ALS, Walk to End Alzheimer’s, Red Cross IHL YAC, Lemm Elementary School Events, Montgomery County Animal Shelter, and the FRC Collaboration Summer Camp.
After graduating, Monica plans on majoring in Computer Science at the University of Texas at Austin and exploring the field of software development.
