Special Delivery: Klein Cain Senior Surprised by $40,000 Package
Klein Cain senior J.T. Phillips is heading to Amazon! During his computer science class, J.T. was surprised with the news that he had been awarded the Amazon Future Engineers scholarship and a summer internship at the company.
The scholarship offered to J.T. is worth $40,000, which will be distributed over his four years in undergraduate school. He will spend the summer before college working with Amazon as a paid intern to jumpstart his future career.
“This is a lot of money going toward my college education, and I’m blessed to have it, especially because I’ll be attending an out-of-state school,” J.T. said.
For J.T., this scholarship and internship are just the beginning. He plans on attending the University of North Carolina to pursue a degree in Bio-Engineering in the fall.
“It has always been my dream to start my own science-tech company during college, and a bioengineering degree provides endless resources and connections to accomplish that,” J.T. said. “This pries open the can of opportunities even more for me and brings me closer to the innovation that I not only want to achieve but also be around.”
J.T. is an outstanding student who also shines outside of the classroom. Just to name a few of his many accomplishments, J.T. is a three-time DECA State Finalist, USA Fencing All-American, and AP Scholar who has held the position of Class President twice.
His dedication to success makes him stand out among his peers. J.T.’s computer science instructor, Mr. Tony Vo, saw how hard he worked and knew this scholarship would perfectly fit a student like J.T. Mr. Vo’s encouragement prompted J.T. to apply to the scholarship program.
“There is no greater joy as a teacher than seeing your students succeed and achieve their goals. I am incredibly proud of J.T. for being selected for this scholarship. It is a testament to his academic excellence and character,” Mr. Vo said. “This scholarship is not only a recognition of his achievements but also an investment in his future.”
